3-23-08/Violent Radicalization Act post card/add to website
Hi, AfDers and friends,
Alliance for Democracy thinks that we need to express our opposition to the Violent Radicalization and Homegrown Terrorism Prevention Act now as loudly as possible. to help with that we have added new pages to the Alliance for Democracy website at http://www.afd-pdx.org/Violent_radicalization_Act/VRA_Home.html.
We produced a post card which are preaddressed to Senators Wyden and Smith. The text of those cards is on the website. Please send a post card asap. If you want to send the post cards themselves, I have them available and will make every effort to get them to you. Just drop me a email and let me know.
Another way to get the cards is between church services at the First Unitarian Church at SW 12th and Main on Sunday. For the next couple of Sundays, I will have a table in Fuller Hall (either the Economic Justice Action Group table or the Democracy Action Group table). You can sign them there or take some with you for your friends. Table will be available between the two services and after the second service. Generally that would be between 10:15 - 11: 15 and 12:15 to 1 PM.
I would like to schedule meetings with the Wyden and Smith's staff to present the cards collected. If you would like to be a part of those visits, please let me know that as well.
On another note, Jules Boykoff, pol sc professor at Pacific University in Forest Grove and author of Beyond Bullets,The Suppression of Dissent in the United States as well as a Truthout article on the violent radicalization act (available on the AfD website). Topic is Martin Luther King Jr and the FBI.
