Hi, AfDers and friends,
Please see note following from my friend, Beth Peterson, on the need to call the Director of Oregon Water Resources Department to express your opposition to LNG terminals in Oregon. There are some many reasons to oppose LNG - bad for the environment: first there is the carbon footprint to processing the methane gas into a liquid form in order to be transported from the middle east or Russia or Indonesia; second the ill effects on fish estuaries/habitat; third, the building of pipe lines in our forest lands across stream beds. Plus LNG distorts energy priorities from conservation and the use of solar/wave etc sources and puts more resources into the fossil fuels arena.
LNG plants are terrorist targets. LNG leaves us dependent on foreign energy sources. LNG leaves us dependent on giant multi-national corporations. And the LNG is not needed in Oregon. It is destined for California. If California needs this dirty energy, why don't they build a terminal for it in San Francisco bay or maybe in San Diego or LA? Oh, that's right. California banned LNG terminals..
Please make the call. Also click the link in the message below, scrool down and send a email messge to varioius elected officials with the No-LNG message.

Subject: Oppose Permit for LNG Line
Hi David.
You're probably very familiar with the controversy over the proposed LNG line through Oregon. (Info can be found at OnwardOregon.org at http://tinyurl.com/5avtde.) Everything is set for it to be built, Except they'll need a permit from the Oregon Water Resources Department (WRD) to operate and dock their ships. Failure to get a permit will stop the project. The Director's Office at WRD is taking names and contact information of those in opposition to the project. Please encourage people concerned about this project to call the Director's Office in Salem at 503-986-0910 to express opposition to issuing a permit for the LNG project. A decision will be made shortly so calls should be made soon.
Thanks.
