Their sub-group Real Wealth of of Portland (www.realwealthpdx.com) has organized a follow up meeting to the screening of Call and Response for Oct 20, a meeting that the Alliance for Democracy will be participating in.
This is from the film's website (www.CallandResponse.com.): "CALL+RESPONSE is a first of its kind feature documentary film that reveals the world’s 27 million dirtiest secrets: there are more slaves today than ever before in human history. CALL+RESPONSE goes deep undercover where slavery is thriving from the child brothels of Cambodia to the slave brick kilns of rural India to reveal that in 2007, Slave Traders made more money than Google, Nike and Starbucks combined."

The Real Wealth of Portland* encourages you to watch the film Call and Response this weekend, then come to our forum on October 20 to learn more and take action.
Portland plays host to the national premier of the non-profit rockumentary Call and Response. This film deals with the reality of literal slavery for more than 27 million people on earth. It premiers THIS WEEK October 9th at Hollywood Theatre and October 10th at Living Room Theaters. Check it out!
Films are too often a source of entertainment or purely educational. Luckily Portland is home to numerous organizations dedicated to social justice. We have created an opportunity to connect with social justice organizations so you can learn what is going on and find a way to participate that is right for you. This is the essence of our Community Commons – Ideas into Action series. Please join us!
