Hi, AfDers and friends,
One final notice about the screening of UnCounted - The New Math of American Elections on Monday evening at Cinema 21 starting at 7PM. The filmmaker, David Earnhart, will be there to make a few introductory remarks and do a Q&A afterwards.
Also, the Oregon Voter Rights Coalition has posted part of the Secretary of State Forum we sponsored from Saturday onto their website at www.oregonvrc.org (click on the graphic to the right). The first segment posted is on the questions about campaign finance reform (limitations on contributions and limitations) asked by AfD member Joan Horton. The rest of the forum will be posted soon.
Please forward this email.

UNCOUNTED: The New Math of American Elections
A Film by David Earnhardt
"...powerful and persuasive..."
Howard Zinn, Author, "A People's History of the United States"
It's been four years since the 2004 election debacle and a mere 6 months before the next presidential election and yet these questions remain unanswered:
- Why do 18 states still use computerized electronic voting machines with no voter verifiable paper trail?
- Why are the machines still using proprietary software that is contractually protected from inspection?
- Why are private corporations, with no obligation to protect the public interest, still maintaining and monitoring these machines?
- Why are hundreds of primary election problems in states like Pennsylvania being ignored ("frozen" and malfunctioning machines, broken machines that were not replaced or fixed for hours, machines set up mistakenly so that only members of one political party could use them, etc..)?
- Why are our country's loudest and most important voices silent on these issues? Not to mention Clinton, McCain, and Obama.
- Will the votes of Oregonians make a difference or will the November election be hijacked by the machines used in other states?
Electronic Voting Machines Will Eat Our Election. They've digested the millions of votes they gobbled up and made disappear in 2004 and are coming for more.
On Monday, May 5, you can find out what you can do to help.
"'Uncounted' is made in the spirit of Michael Moore's veracity to awaken the American public from its slumber on core issues....You may never take the holy voting process seriously again."
Gordon Glantz, Managing Editor, Times Herald (Philadelphia)
